DION Summerstown Forest Snowshoe Race
The DION Summerstown Forest Snowshoe Race is scheduled for Saturday, February 6, 2027, at Summerstown Station on the FOTST trails in Summerstown Forest. The event is part of the Dion Canadian Snowshoe Series and benefits the Summerstown Forest school program.
Distances offered:
- 8.5 km - Dion Series; medals and prizes to top 3 and top masters
- 4.4 km - Summerstown Forest Challenge; prizes to top overall male and female
The course is mostly single track with packed, rolling terrain and many passing areas through tree-covered sections. Dogs are not permitted on site due to insurance restrictions. Facilities include two portable toilets and advice to bring warm clothes for changing after the race. Parking is limited and free at the race start for early arrivals, with additional roadside parking available.
A limited number of Dion snowshoes are available for rent for $10 per race on a first come, first served basis when registering online. If there is no snow, the event will proceed as a trail run without snowshoes; refunds or race transfers are not offered in that case.
Entry fees are listed for early and regular registration and the race is capped at 200 competitors. Awards, merchandise prizes, and random draw prizes will be distributed after the race, with post-race hot and cold snacks provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
