Summer Trail Classic : Paul Douglas Forest Preserve
The Summer Trail Classic is a trail running event held at Paul Douglas Forest Preserve in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. It is the third of four races in the 2026 Dick Pond Athletics Darn Tough Trail Race Series and supports the Chicago Area Mountain Bikers (CAMBr).
Runners choose from three distances listed below and follow single-track trails through the preserve. Walking-only participants are allowed on the shortest distance. Course support includes three water stations, but participants are advised to carry their own liquids and nourishment. If trails are wet and deemed unusable by the preserve, the event may be moved to the preserve's asphalt bike path and participants will be notified in advance. Course access is subject to preserve regulations and sections may close mid-morning; support on courses will be removed by midday.
Event entry includes a Leslie Jordan running vest for registered participants. Awards include an engraved wood award for the overall male and female champions and age-group awards across ranges from 13 & under through 70 & over. A raffle runs during the event; race entry includes automatic raffle entry and one male and one female in each age group will be randomly selected to receive a pair of Darn Tough socks. Official finish results are available at the event via the QR code on race bibs.
