About the race
The Standhope Ultra Challenge is a backcountry running event near Ketchum, Idaho, that takes place July 24 to 25, 2027. It offers multiple mountain-distance options through the remote Pioneer Mountains and is organized by Pulse Running.
The event distances are:
- 100 Mile : more than 23,000 feet of climbing across remote wilderness trails
- 60K : approximately 37.2 miles with about 9,000 feet of climbing
- 30K : covers the second half of the 60K with over 4,300 feet of climbing
Courses include high mountain passes, steep and technical trails, long stretches between aid stations, and climbs that reach nearly 11,000 feet. Aid stations are remote and many are hiked in by volunteers. Weather can change quickly and runners should be prepared for elevation, altitude, and remoteness. All finishers receive a handcrafted finisher award.
Standhope provides race-day accommodations and policies aimed at supporting mother athletes, including dedicated pumping and nursing spaces, refrigerated breast milk transport between designated locations, support for pumping equipment and milk storage, and pregnancy and postpartum deferrals.
Refunds follow a published schedule: full refund through January 1, 50% through March 1, and non-refundable after March 1. If the event is canceled or modified for reasons beyond the organizers control, no refunds or credits will be issued. Shuttle service for the 30K and 60K is offered separately and must be arranged by the stated deadline. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
