About the race
The Standhope Ultra Challenge in Ketchum, ID, on July 24 to 25, 2027 offers mountain ultrarunning on remote trails in the Pioneer Mountains. The event includes multiple distances that run through high ridgelines, alpine lakes, and technical trail sections. Aid stations are hiked in and weather in the mountains can change rapidly. Climbs on course reach elevations up to 11,000 feet.
Distances:
- 100 Mile: backcountry route with over 23,000 feet of climbing.
- 60K: 37.2 miles with about 9,000 feet of elevation gain.
- 30K: covers the second half of the 60K with over 4,300 feet of climbing.
The 60K features high ridgelines and mountain lakes. The 30K includes steep grades averaging about 325 feet per mile and typically requires four to six hours to complete for many participants.
There is no qualifying requirement for entry this year. The event notes a high level of difficulty and records that many runners do not finish even with strong preparation. All finishers receive a unique handcrafted award.
Logistics and policies noted by the organizer include a registration close on July 17 at 11:59 PM MT, a published refund schedule with decreasing refunds through March 1 and non refundable entries after March 1, and a separate shuttle ticket requirement for 30K and 60K riders with ticket sales closing July 17.
