Stanage Struggle

Stanage Struggle is a fell running event organised by Fat Boys Running Club in Hathersage. The senior course is a classic fell route of approximately 9.9 to 10 km with about 355 m of ascent and is run under Fell Runners Association rules as a category B race.

Distances:

  • Senior: approximately 10 km with about 355 m ascent.
  • Junior: 3 km for ages 9 and above.
  • Junior: 2 km for under 9s.

Senior entrants must be 18 years of age or over. The organisers note that participants are responsible for dressing appropriately for the conditions and that the Race Director may introduce mandatory kit or clothing requirements if conditions make this necessary. The event is described as an accessible introduction to fell running but it is physically demanding and participants should consider whether they can safely complete the course.

Registration takes place at Hathersage St Michael’s Primary School, School Lane, Hathersage, S32 1BZ. No dogs are permitted on the school premises. The junior races run under an Athletics Running Club permit and insurance, with registration on the school field and a junior entry fee of £2 on the day.
