2027 Spring Cleaning 5k, 10k & Half
The event offers three race distances that run along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path in Georgetown. Courses use a light gravel trail with minimal elevation change and are configured as out and back routes.
- Half marathon out and back on the C&O Canal path
- 10k out and back on the C&O Canal path
- 5k out and back on the C&O Canal path
The half marathon course is described as a light gravel dirt road with minimal elevation change. The 5k and 10k routes are on the same flat trail with no major elevation gains. There are water stations placed along each course: seven on the half, three on the 10k, and one on the 5k, with Gatorade available at some stations. Walkers are welcome.
Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Drifit) event shirt, and chip timing. T shirts are guaranteed for registrations completed before April 7; additional shirts may be available afterward on a first come first served basis. The half marathon has a published time limit for completion.
Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to age group finishers in standard age categories; overall top three finishers are not eligible for age group awards. The race benefits the nonprofit We Finish Together; the organizer will donate an old race medal for each finisher. A virtual race option is available. Packet pickup is provided at the event and there will be no on site race registration. The organizer posts photos and updates on social media and maintains a weather policy that may delay or cancel the event if needed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
