About the race
The Sparkassen Alb Marathon in Schwäbisch Gmünd is an annual running event held each October since 1991. The event offers multiple race formats across trail and road terrain, including short runs for youth and long ultramarathon distances. The terrain climbs over the three Kaiserberge Hohenstaufen, Rechberg and Stuifen and features significant elevation gain; one route covers more than 50 km with about 1100 Höhenmeter.

The programme often includes a Friday evening session at the competition centre Große Sporthalle with a lecture, a briefing for the trail routes and a pasta party. Entrance and participation in the briefing are free; the pasta meal carries an indicated cost of 7 € and drinks are available for purchase on site.
