Sorta Mountain Stage Race
Sorta Mountain Stage Race is a trail running event held on the Knobstone Trail that serves as the main fundraiser for the Suicide Awareness Mission. The event offers multiple course options and presents overall awards and bonus prizes. Food is provided for participants, family members, and volunteers.
Distances offered include:
- 5 mile on the Knobstone Trail with a turnaround at the first aid station near mile 2.5
- 13.1 mile half marathon out and back on the Knobstone Trail with a turnaround at the summit of Round Top Knob
- 18 mile out and back on the Knobstone Trail that includes the Jackson Trailhead
- 50K option achieved by completing the 18 mile course plus the half marathon for a combined finisher medal introduced for 2024
The event supports the Suicide Awareness Mission 501(c)(3) and directs all proceeds to the foundation. The foundation grants local scholarships and promotes mental health awareness, fitness, and outdoor activity. The race is listed as an UTMB Index race.
