Skagway Marathon
The Skagway Marathon, Half Marathon and Walking Half Marathon take place in Skagway, Alaska. The events use road and trail terrain that moves from coastal scenery into forest and alpine settings, and are based around the Seven Pastures Recreation Area and Dedman Stage.
The full marathon is a 26.2 mile out-and-back course that climbs multiple hills and follows Southeast Alaskan fjord coastline. The route passes through a glacially carved valley, a Sitka spruce wood, crosses the Taiya River trestle bridge, runs past numerous trickling streams and up West Creek Valley before reaching a forest opening with views of West Creek Glacier and surrounding mountain peaks.
The running half follows the first portion of the full marathon through historical Skagway and along ocean and forest, turning around at aid station 4 to return to the start. The walking half follows the same 13.1 mile route as the running half.
Event materials noted by the organizer include a route map, photos, media and race results. Registration for the 2027 event opens February 14, 2027, and in-person registration is available the evening before the race at Dedman Stage. No late registration or bib pickup is available on race morning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
