Skåbu Fjellmaraton
Skåbu Fjellmaraton is held 21 August 2027 in Skåbu, described as a race in the foothills of Jotunheimen. The event includes multiple distances on road, gravel and trail terrain, with start and finish for most races in Skåbu sentrum at about 860 meters above sea level.
Distances offered:
- Jotunheimvegen Ultra
- Helmaraton (full marathon)
- Halvmaraton (half marathon)
- 19 km terreng
- 8.5 km terreng
- Barneløp (about 1 km, ages 0–11)
The Jotunheimvegen Ultra has a new start at Bygdin Høifjellshotell on Valdresflya, roughly 12 km from Beitostølen. The ultra follows RV51 briefly, then Jotunheimvegen on gravel past mountain summer farms and Vinstervatna, with views toward Jotunheimen. From around 38 km it follows the marathon route into Skåbu, passing Slangen Seter and circling the lake Olstappen before a final 3 km climb in Kamfossbakken to the finish.
The full marathon starts and finishes in Skåbu sentrum at 860 m and has about 1150 meters total ascent. The 19 km trail records roughly 525 meters ascent. The 8.5 km trail was revised in 2025 to include more off‑road sections: gravel and cart tracks to the aid station, then trail with some boggy and forest sections and boardwalks. The children’s race is approximately 1 km and is intended for ages 0 to 11. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
