Simon Wake Comrie Hills Relay
The Simon Wake Comrie Hills Relay is a team hill running relay of 43 km with 1,733 m of ascent, run in four stages that start and finish in Comrie village. The route runs up and around the hills on either side of Glen Lednock and includes a mix of trail and mountain terrain.
Legs 1 and 4 are closer to trail running, while Legs 2 and 3 cross rough mountain ground. Leg 1 is fully marked and Leg 4 is partially marked. A short section of Leg 3, across a featureless moor prior to CP6, will also be marked to reduce the risk of lost runners. The 2026 format requires teams of five, with a pair running Leg 2 together.
The 2026 race is scheduled for Saturday 29 August and forms part of the inaugural Scottish Hill Runners Relay Championships. Prizes are awarded to winning open and women's teams, the first mixed team (teams must include two or three women), first Open V40 and Female V40, and individual leg winners for open and female categories.
A raffle will be held on race day; tickets are priced at £1 and will be sold for cash. The event recognises local sponsors Meadow Garage and Comrie Croft and thanks landowners who permit use of their ground, including Balmuick Farm, Carroglen Farm, Dunira Estate, Fordie Estate and Invergeldie Estate.
The race is dedicated to the memory of a former club member. From 2025, any surplus proceeds will support Junior Hill Running in Scotland, split equally between Scottish Athletics junior initiatives and Strathearn Harriers' junior section.
