SilverBackTrails Lamplighter 40
The Lamplighter 40 is an all night trail running event that runs from sunset to sunrise on a circular route starting and finishing at Goathland Village Hall. The route crosses the North York Moors and uses good tracks, open moorland and forestry. Runners will visit triangulation pillars, cairns, crosses and other checkpoint locations, with some marker flags along sections of the course.
Refreshments and snacks are available at multiple checkpoint locations. One indoor checkpoint will serve pizza and hot and cold drinks. Hot food will be available at the finish, including vegetarian and gluten free options. Entrants may rest in the village hall before travelling home.
Each entrant will be given a tracker and supplied with a GPX file and a master map to assist navigation. The event allows solo or pair entries; pair teams must run together unless one member withdraws. Entrants are limited to 40 and must be 18 or older. Total time on course is circa 12 hours. All finishers receive a Lamplighter medal and there are mementos for the first male and first female finishers. An event specific technical T shirt is available to buy via the club shop for £18.
Participants must carry required kit including a map, compass and whistle, a headtorch plus spare torch or batteries, emergency bivvy, spare warm clothing, waterproofs, a battery pack and charging lead, a charged mobile phone, at least 500 ml of drink and at least 60 grams of emergency food.
