SilverBackTrails Lamplighter 20
The Lamplighter 20 is a night trail run of about 20 mile on a circular route based at Goathland Village Hall in the North York Moors. The event is run from sunset to sunrise along flagged sections, good tracks, open moorland and forestry, with navigation aided by a GPX file and a master map. Entrants are issued a tracker and there is at least one indoor checkpoint on the course.
Participants register and collect numbers before last light and then set off when the Lamplighter signals the start. Runners have 6.5 hours to return to Goathland Village Hall. Refreshments, water, fizzy pop and snacks will be available at checkpoint locations, and hot food with vegetarian and gluten free options is provided at the finish. All finishers receive a Lamplighter medal and there is a memento for the first female and first male finishers.
Entries are limited to 40 and the minimum age is 18. Competitors may enter solo or as a pair. An optional event technical T shirt is available for purchase via the club shop for £18. Mandatory kit must be carried by each entrant and checked at registration and at a checkpoint; required items include a map of the North Yorkshire Moors, compass, head-torch with spare, emergency bivvy, spare warm clothing, waterproofs with taped seams unless Paramo, charged mobile phone and power pack, at least 500 ml of drink, at least 60 g of emergency food, whistle and a cup.
