Gedong Songo Trail Run
The Gedong Songo Trail Run is an off-road running event held in the Bandungan area of Semarang Regency, Central Java. Previously known as the Semarang Trail Run, the event has been renamed to highlight its course through the Gedong Songo Temple complex. The race starts at Hotel Green Valley and focuses on showcasing local cultural wisdom alongside the natural environment.
Participants can choose from five distinct distances that traverse the slopes and surrounding areas of Mount Ungaran:
- 3 km: An introductory route for those new to running in nature.
- 7 km: A course featuring views of the Gedong Songo Temple structures.
- 14 km: A trail through the natural landscape surrounding the temple complex.
- 25 km: A route that passes through Mount Ungaran and nearby tea plantations.
- 50 km: An ultra-distance category covering Rawa Pening, the summit of Mount Ungaran, and its foothills.
The event features various cut-off times depending on the distance, ranging from 2 hours for the shortest course to 18 hours for the ultra-marathon. The routes provide a mix of cultural landmarks and natural scenery, including volcanic peaks and agricultural landscapes.
Organizers provide official competition guidelines, race guides, and checkpoint information for all participants. The course includes designated aid stations and specific GPX data for navigation through the mountainous terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
