Saltire 24 Ultra Trail Race

Saltire 24 is a midsummer ultra trail event held in Royal Deeside at Knockburn Loch, Aberdeenshire. Runners complete as many laps as possible on a scenic multi terrain loop beside Kerloch Hill and through Fetteresso Forest. The course is used through day and night, so entrants may run into the hours before sunrise.

Event formats include solo and team options with timed races over 6 hour, 12 hour and 24 hour periods. Teams can run in relay format, typically from pairs up to teams of eight. Electronic chip timing is used for all competitors.

Participants must be self sufficient for changing conditions and a good quality headtorch is compulsory for night running. On site facilities include free camping, showers, indoor toilets and heated changing rooms. Finishers receive eco friendly locally made prizes and there is an option to convert a memento coaster into a jute ribbon eco medal.

Entries are listed as open 19th to 20th June 2027 for upcoming editions. The event notes the need for appropriate kit and preparation for Scottish weather and variable terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
