Salt Flats Endurance Runs - Wendover, UT
Salt Flats Endurance Runs is staged at the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway near Wendover, UT, and includes multiple ultramarathon and fun run distances. The event uses the same section of salt flats where land-speed records are set at Speedweek.
Distances offered include:
- 100 Miler
- 100K (106.5K)
- 50 Miler
- 50K
- 10K
- 5K
All longer distances start on the flats and follow routes that include about 13 miles of salt followed by roughly 3 miles of mud-flats before reaching the "Islands," mountain peaks that appear to float on the salt. The 50K follows an out-and-back to the No Post aid station at 15.5 miles for an exact 50K distance. The 50 Miler, 100K and 100 Miler continue on rolling hills with multiple climbs; the 100K and 100 Miler also cross into Nevada along part of the route. All courses finish back at the start area.
Organizers note that adjusted cutoffs are intended to make the ultramarathon distances accessible to a wide variety of runners. Due to BLM regulations, the race may use pre-approved salt-adjacent alternate courses if the flats are wet; aid station distances remain the same on alternate routes. The event added a 5K in 2021 and a 10K in 2026; both fun runs use a simple out-and-back format and include a tech shirt and bib. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
