Saint Cuthbert's Way Ultra 100 km
Saint Cuthbert's Way Ultra is a long trail race that follows the official Saint Cuthbert's Way route from Melrose in the Scottish Borders to Holy Island in Northumberland. The course crosses the national border, passes through the Scottish Borders region and the Northumberland National Park, and is fully way marked without deviation from the official trail.
The event is held over 100 km with recorded ascent of 8,067 feet and descent of 7,765 feet. The race has a total time limit of 20 hours and an overall entry limit of 150 runners. All starters receive a live GPS tracker and chip timing, and the event provides medical cover, marshals, and multiple staffed checkpoints with water, soft drinks and snacks. Hot drinks and a wider food selection are offered at Wooler and Morebattle and at the finish there are hot drinks and more substantial food options.
Two drop bag locations are permitted for the 100 km race, at Wooler and Morebattle; finish bags can also be collected at the finish. Registration and parking are available at Wooler and also at Melrose; a coach transfer from Wooler to Melrose is bookable and a free shuttle returns finishers from Holy Island to Wooler.
Entry includes a bespoke medal, event memento and free digital photographs. Entrants must have completed at least a half marathon within the last three years and must carry mandatory kit items such as proof of ID, whistle, head torch with spare batteries, survival bag, compass, specified maps, waterproofs, minimum 500 ml water, emergency food, a personal cup, a fully charged phone and flashing lights.
