About the race
RutFest is the sixth annual Richmond Ultra Trail Festival, a community focused running and hiking event in Williston, Vermont held on October 31, 2026. The event is a 36 hour endurance festival with an additional hour for Daylight Savings Time, during which participants may run or walk repeatedly on two distinct trail loops at the Catamount Outdoor Family Center.
The course uses two loops that alternate on the north and south sides of Catamount, approximately these distances:
- 3 mile loop
- 4 mile loop
Participants check in at the main aid station and may start laps whenever they wish during the event. For safety, participants are asked to check out with a volunteer when they leave. Registered participants receive event updates by email. All participants are asked to sign up for a one hour volunteer shift at the aid station and to donate a snack to the aid station.
Entry is donation based with suggested amounts and optional additional donations to beneficiary organizations. A free voucher option is available for those unable to donate. All event profits are split evenly between Catamount Outdoor Family Center and Migrant Justice. Buckles made for 100 mile finishes are available for purchase after completion.
Catamount Outdoor Family Center manages the Catamount Community Forest, offering year round outdoor recreation on over 400 acres.
