Wilsons Prom Running Festival : course overview
The Wilsons Prom Running Festival takes place at Wilsons Promontory National Park, with the event village at the Australian Commando Memorial, Ring Road, Tidal River VIC 3960 on 1 and 2 May 2027. The festival comprises multiple trail races that combine road, gravel and narrow singletrack, coastal headlands, beach running and a tidal creek crossing.
Race distances include:
- 100 km : 3,500 m ascent/descent; 24 hour cut-off; age 18+
- 70 km : 1,300 m ascent/descent; cut-off TBA; age 18+
- 50 km : 1,650 m ascent/descent; 12 hour cut-off; age 18+
- 27 km : 824 m ascent/descent; 6 hour cut-off; age 16+
- 15 km : 491 m ascent/descent; 3.5 hour cut-off; age 12+
- 5.5 km : 155 m ascent/descent; 1.5 hour cut-off; age 5+
- Kids 1.6 km : age up to 12; no minimum age
Course features described by the organiser include a climb and turnaround at the Mt Oberon summit on some distances, Telegraph Saddle and Telegraph Track sections, sandy and gravel stretches to Oberon Bay, a beach section and a tidal crossing at Growler Creek that can reach waist depth at peak tides. Oberon Bay has toilet facilities; participants are warned that tank water is not safe to use. Due to remote aid station access, drop bags are not available.
