Run the Vineyards - Pindar Fall 5K and 8K
This event takes place at Pindar Vineyards in Peconic, New York and runs through the vineyard property covering about 300 acres of vines. It offers two course distances:
- 5K
- 8K
Both courses are mostly flat and take place on hard packed dirt trails and short cut grass. The event uses professional chip timing with live streamed results. Walkers and children are welcome; walkers are asked to register and to start behind runners. Time limits are requested for safety: one hour for 5K walkers and one hour forty minutes for 8K runners.
Participant options include a custom tech tee with an upgrade available to a long sleeve tech shirt for an additional fee; registering by September 20 increases the chance of securing first choice of style and size. Water stations are located on course and water and bananas are provided at the finish. Awards are given to the top three overall and to age group male and female winners in categories including Age 14 and under, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, and then every ten years. Souvenir finisher medals are available for purchase during registration or on race day for specified fees.
The after-party includes a glass of Pindar wine for participants 21 and older, a stemless Run the Vineyards wine glass, live music immediately following the race until midday, and on-site food trucks. Spectators are welcome. The event supports the NY Cancer Foundation. Parking is on-site and free. The event operates rain or shine and does not allow transfers or refunds.
