About the race
Run the Ridge is a mountain and trail running series based in Laragh, County Wicklow. The event offers multiple race distances that use local trails, forest paths and open mountain ridges around Derrybawn and the Spinc walk. Races start and finish at the Laragh GFC grounds near Laragh village.
Distances in the series include:
- 30 km Run the Spinc along trail and rocky mountain sections including the Spinc boardwalk and ridge.
- 20 km Run the Ridge featuring the Derrybawn Ridge with seven small peaks and sections of trail, fire-road and open mountain.
- 10 km trail run within Derrybawn Woods.
- 3 km junior race.
The Derrybawn Ridge section includes the Zig-Zag trail through Derrybawn Wood, the old Woollen Mills approach and several kilometres on the Wicklow Way before reaching exposed ridge ground with sweeping views. The 30 km and 20 km routes share the first 2 km and the final 3 km, producing a common start and finish experience. The event is organised to raise funds for Laragh GFC and Glendalough AC and serves as the Athletics Wicklow Off Road Championship. The 20 km and 30 km races carry UTMB index status and all races count towards the ITRA National League. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
