Run The Maine : 18th edition (2026)

Run The Maine takes place on 25 September 2026 at Camp Reserve in Castlemaine, Victoria. The event includes three running options that use local trails, forest and gardens and traverses sections of the historic Goldfields Steam Train corridor.

The race options are:

  • Half Marathon Maldon to Castlemaine, point to point following Goldfields Steam Train route
  • 10 km Walmer Forest loop, climbs from Castlemaine and follows two creeks
  • 5 km Botanical Gardens out-and-back, almost flat through Castlemaine gardens

The half marathon runs from dense woodland to open paddocks and follows well-made fire trails and paths along the historic steam train route. The event operates a unique start arrangement for the half marathon that involves taking a steam train out to the start location. The 10 km course climbs into Walmer Forest then loops back and joins the half marathon route into town. The 5 km is an out-and-back route inside Castlemaine’s historic botanical gardens and is described as a fast, mostly flat course.

Registration is offered in super early bird, early bird and standard windows. Entry options include concession and under-16 pricing, and there is a merchandise-only option for volunteers. Pricing and categories vary by distance and registration period. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
