Run For Your Life 5k : Rixeyville
Run For Your Life 5k is a cross country run/walk held on October 24, 2026 at Verdun Adventure Bound in Rixeyville, Virginia. The course runs through woods on Verdun’s 67-acre property and uses on-course markers referenced as the SASQUATCH to guide participants to the finish. The event includes a 5K Cross Country Run/Walk and post-race activities at the amphitheater such as music, food, awards, face painting, a moon bounce, and a Message of Hope. A costume contest awards the top three race costumes.
Twenty percent of proceeds support the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation for substance abuse recovery programs, and eighty percent support Verdun’s Project SOAR. Registration opens February 28, 2026 and closes October 4, 2026; the registration fee is $30.00.
Awards include trophies for overall top male and overall top female, plus medals for top first and second place finishers male and female in each age category. Age groups begin at 14 and under and continue through 65 and over.
Project SOAR is an eight week program offered free to adults in recovery. The program focuses on the period after rehabilitation or incarceration and uses a thirty-three element challenge course along with nutrition workshops, daily physical training, yoga and breathing workshops, and introduced recreational activities such as kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, woodworking, and disc golf.
