Run for the Trees Jeannette Genius McKean Memorial 5K

This event takes place on May 8, 2027 at Ward Park, 250 Perth Lane, Winter Park, FL. It is organized as a community 5K run/walk with an accompanying free kids' run.

The 5K is a point to point course whose final mile runs along the tree canopied, wilderness dirt road of Genius Drive, a privately owned section opened to the public once a year for this event. In-person finishers receive a young tree sapling.

Event amenities include a T-shirt and a tree sapling for finishers. The race is timed using B-Tag technology and is produced as a cupless event; participants may receive a reusable cup at registration and touchless refill stations are available on course and in the event area.

The event benefits the Winter Park Tree Replacement Fund. The City of Winter Park has historically given away over 1,500 trees to event participants to encourage replanting and reforestation.

Registration is offered for both in-person and virtual participation; processing fees apply. Entry fee tiers are listed for various registration dates, and a youth and senior discount is available. A 1.3 mile return walk from the finish to the post-race area is noted on the course map. Participants should follow event rules for timing, bib display, and course pace limits. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
