Run for the Trees 5K
Run for the Trees is a community 5K run/walk held in Winter Park, Florida, on May 8, 2027. The event is a point to point course that concludes with the last mile on the tree-canopied wilderness dirt road of Genius Drive, a privately owned area opened to the public for this event only. In-person finishers receive a young tree sapling. Participants should expect a 1.3 mile walk back to the post-race area from the finish line.

The event uses chip timing (B-Tag) and operates as a cupless race; reusable cups are offered at registration and refill stations are available in the pre and post event areas and on course. Awards are given to top overall finishers, a top nonbinary/genderqueer finisher, masters winners, and top finishers in age divisions. A virtual option is available with packet pickup or domestic shipping for mailed race packets. Entry fees vary by registration period and there is an age-based discount for youth and older participants. The event supports the Winter Park Tree Replacement Fund and includes a family focused Mother’s Earth Day Celebration and a free kids run for all children, with ribbons for finishers.
