Run Dungog : Trail Running Festival
Run Dungog is a community trail running festival held at the Dungog Common in Dungog, NSW. The event offers multiple trail distances:
- 40 km trail run
- 20 km trail run
- 10 km trail run
- 5 km trail run
The festival includes on-site local vendors such as a coffee cart and brunch produce, live music, and a dog friendly atmosphere. A volunteer committee from the local community organises the event and all proceeds are donated to the Dungog Shire Community Centre.
A supervised children’s outdoor adventure program is run in the Dungog Common by Wildcraft Australia. Activities for children aged 5 to 12 include nature-play games, bush crafts, survival skills, a mini-trail run, and an outdoor picnic. Kids aged 12 and under are eligible to run free in the races and are supervised during the day so parents competing can check on them.
The festival is presented as a community event and fundraiser and highlights the local rural and natural environment at the foothills of the Barrington Tops World Heritage National Park. The organisers acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, the Gringai people, within the Karuah Aboriginal Land Council. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
