About the race

The ROUT Classic 100 Miles is an annual mountain ultra‑trail held in October in the Rhodope mountain range in northern Greece. The course is a circular route that starts and finishes at the Forest Village Erymanthos in the Haidous area and totals 182 km with approximately +9000 m of positive elevation gain. Most of the route follows singletrack trails (about 67%), complemented by forest roads (32%) and a small portion of asphalt (1%).

The event is designed for experienced mountain ultra runners. Minimum age for entry is 20 years. To be accepted, applicants must document at least one finish in a trail or mountain race of 80 km or more (50 miles) within the previous three calendar years. The field is limited to 150 participants and the participation fee is 170.00 euros. The organizers provide partial race support through six aid stations offering full nourishment, on-course medical support and two drop-bag collection points; competitors may submit up to two drop bags (max 10 kg each).

Competitors must carry mandatory survival equipment, including an emergency shelter, headlamp with spare batteries, whistle and first aid kit, among other items. External support is restricted to designated aid-station areas. Race rules set strict penalties for violations, including disqualification for loss of a control point, unsanctioned accompaniment, littering or dangerous behavior. Medical teams may stop a competitor if continued participation endangers health. Time limit for a valid finish is 46 hours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
