About the race
Rosengarten Schlern Sky Marathon is an alpine running event around the Gruppo del Catinaccio, based in Tires in the Alpe di Siusi area of Alto Adige, Dolomites. The route reaches the Passo Principe at 2,610 m and runs through terrain that lies largely above 2,000 m in a UNESCO natural landscape. The start and the finish are in Tires.
The event offers three measured distances with documented elevation profiles and downloadable GPX tracks.
- Sky Marathon 46 km: 2,980 m ascent, 3,083 m descent
- Sky Trail 36 km: 1,908 m ascent, 1,935 m descent
- Sky Run 16 km: 770 m ascent, 900 m descent
The 46 km Sky Marathon circumnavigates the Catinaccio group and goes to the Altipiano dello Sciliar and Monte Cavone before returning to Tires; absence of vertigo and specific athletic preparation are required. The Sky Trail follows the Catinaccio to Passo Principe and descends via Val Ciamin, Lavina Bianca and Oberstraße to Tires. The Sky Run makes a loop in the Valle Ciamin via Rechten Leger, Wuhn Leger and S. Sebastian and is limited to a maximum of 100 athletes. The overall time limit for the event is 10 hours.
