About the race
Rocky 50 by USWE Trail Race is a trail running event at Huntsville State Park in Texas. The 2027 edition is scheduled for February 13, 2027 and is based at Raven Lodge by Lake Raven.
Distances include:
- 50 mile
- 50K
- 13.1 mile
- Youth 1 mile
The course begins at the edge of Lake Raven and uses the park trail system in looped formats. The 50 mile distance is three full loops of about 16.7 miles each. The 50K uses a shorter first lap followed by one full loop. The half marathon follows a modified 13.1 mile lap. Expect rolling trails with many exposed tree roots, pine needle cover, bridge crossings, lake views, and wildlife. A full lap has roughly 1,250 feet of elevation gain and equivalent loss.
Course marking is extensive: orange caution tape at open intersections, yellow arrows on stakes and trees, and many confidence markers. Reflective markings assist navigation in dark hours. The event operates with a cupless policy; runners should bring their own cup or bottle. Collapsible SpeedCups are available at packet pickup for those who need one. Aid stations provide hot and cold options and support drop bags at key locations.
Drop bag delivery to Dam Nation is available for the 50 mile and 50K with specific collection and return procedures. Parking at the park is limited and follows park rules.
