About the race
Rock ‘N Reef Trail Run is a trail running event held at Case Park, Horseshoe Bay Road, Bowen, on the shores of Edgecumbe Bay. It offers three measured course options:
- 6 km
- 10 km
- 18 km
Courses are fully marked and marshalled, with pink tape, signage and directional signs at junctions. Trails run through Cape Edgecumbe Heights Recreation Reserve and include rocky and technical single track, stair sections, soft sand, steep climbs, fast descents and short coasteering/rock-hopping sections on the headlands. The 6 km follows Edgecumbe Reserve and Horseshoe Bay foreshore. The 10 km adds extra loops and a coasteering section. The 18 km extends to Flagstaff Hill and includes additional beach and headland sections. GPX files and an athlete guide are provided.
Entry categories include juniors and age groups from 16–29 up to 60+. Minimum ages are 8 years for short distances and 11 years for longer distances. Entry fees vary by distance and booking window; listed prices range from AUD 18 to AUD 75 depending on category and timing. Race inclusions: course marking and marshals, on-course hydration and snack support (no cups provided), first aid, professional timing with a chip bib to keep, on-course photography, post-race recovery station and food and coffee services at Race HQ.
Mandatory gear for the 10 km and 18 km includes two compression bandages, a fully charged waterproof phone, a whistle and a space blanket. Parking near Case Park may be limited and overflow is available along Horseshoe Bay Road. Facilities include toilets at the start/finish and on the foreshore.
