About the race

The RiverBOO! Park 5K takes place on 10/09/2026 in Riverview Park on Pittsburgh's Northside, at the Riverview Park Activities Building, 176 Riverview Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15214. The course is a hilly outdoor loop that includes a circuit around the Allegheny Observatory on Observatory Hill. Runners and walkers encounter both uphill and downhill sections; the final mile is largely uphill. The route is tree lined and offers shaded stretches. The event is presented by the City of Pittsburgh Office of Special Events and includes family oriented activities.

A costume contest is held for youth ages 0 to 15, and seasonal activities are offered with support from community partners. Shirts are available to the first 200 registrants. Organizers note partial road closures on Riverview Avenue through November because of landslide remediation, which affects vehicle access and parking from Perrysville Avenue. To ease access for residents, entry from Mairdale Street and from Riverview Drive on the Woods Run side of the park is suggested. Registration opens August 3, 2026 and closes August 14, 2026; the registration fee is $15.00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
