River of No Return Endurance Runs
The River of No Return Endurance Runs take place in Challis, Idaho on June 19, 2027. Races start and finish at Challis City Park for the 55K and 108K, while the 32K begins at the ghost town of Bayhorse and finishes at the City Park. Shuttles run to the 32K start.
Courses pass remote mountain country with long climbs that crest above 8,000, 9,000, and 10,000 feet, and they traverse two-track ATV trails, single track, dirt roads, and a final stretch of pavement into Challis. Wildlife such as elk, deer, eagles, bears and wolves are noted along the route, and the course passes historic mines and old mining communities.
The event layout and support:
- 108K: about 17,600 feet elevation gain and 9 aid stations.
- 55K: about 8,800 feet elevation gain and 5 aid stations.
- 32K: about 4,500 feet elevation gain and 2 aid stations.
Crews may support runners at specified aid stations on the 55K and 108K and may accompany runners for the final mile down Main Street into Challis. 108K runners may pick up a pacer after Bayhorse Lake. The course is crew friendly with multiple aid stations that are accessible without four wheel drive vehicles.
Refund policy: full refunds minus $20 given up to May 1, 50% refund after May 1, and no refunds after June 1. The event is part of the Idaho Trail Ultra Series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
