Remembrance Run - Yerington

The Remembrance Run is a prayerful, non competitive journey held August 14 to 16, 2026, organized in collaboration with Remaining Native. The route starts at the Yerington Paiute Tribe and concludes at the Stewart Indian School Cemetery in Carson City. The main route covers 50 miles split across two days, with overnight camping and storytelling at Sunrise Pass.

The event is non competitive and follows a medicine wheel approach. Rest stops occur every five miles and participants regroup at each stop; organizers state that no one will be left behind. Support on the route includes communal first aid supplies, portapotties, meals, snacks, and vehicle support items. Support vehicles must be 4WD and offroad capable for much of the route. Certain items are prohibited at camp, including cookstoves, campfires, pets, bikes, and motorcycles.

Participation requires registration. The event is free and open to the public while donations are being collected to help cover logistics and an associated impact campaign. A virtual option runs August 8 to 16 and allows participants to complete any distance from 1 to 50 miles. Children of all ages are welcome. Artists will visit rest stops during the run and artworks will be exhibited and auctioned at the closing ceremony, with proceeds directed to the impact campaign. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
