Red Rock Canyon Ultra
The Red Rock Canyon event is an endurance trail running festival held near the Red Rock Escarpment just outside Las Vegas, NV on November 14th, 2026. The race uses trails that start at the Red Rock Visitor Center and finish in the town of Blue Diamond.
Distances:
- 100k - route across Red Rock and Cottonwood Valley, out to Satan's Escalator
- 50k - loop including Hurl ascent, Joshua Tree forest, and Mud Springs
- 17k - shorter trail option with a separate course map
The courses pass through ancient Aztec sandstone canyons and washes, across sand and rock quarries, and around limestone formations described as millions of years old. Noted trail segments for both longer distances include Calico 1, Sandstone Quarry, Grand Circle Loop, SMYC, Dale's, Knoll, and South Oak Creek. A segment between miles 7 and 15 is locally called "Dream Killer." The 100k continues via Landmine, Hurl, Black Velvet, Late Night, Red Valley, and Satan's Escalator before returning to Blue Diamond.
Aid stations are spaced about 5.5 to 8.5 miles apart and supply pre-packaged fruit and snacks, GU energy gels, and hydration mix. Pacers may join 100k runners at Late Night (mile 44) or Red Valley (mile 48.25). Entry is limited by BLM group size rules: the first 200 registrants are guaranteed a spot; additional registrants are placed on a waitlist.
