REACH Foundation Shamrock 'n Run
The REACH Foundation Shamrock 'n Run is a community event that raises funds for Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) enrichment programs and events. Since 2012, the event has drawn thousands of families to participate in running and walking activities.
Distances offered:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 2K
Both courses start and finish in the outfield grass area of Yorba Park at the City of Anaheim Ball Fields, adjacent to Yorba Regional Park. The 5K trail winds through Yorba Regional Park and returns via the dirt trail that runs parallel to the Santa Ana River (not the bike trail). Surfaces on the courses include grass, dirt, cement, and asphalt. All courses are timed but not certified, and the event uses electronic fobs with a staggered start.
Registrants receive a complimentary Kiwanis pancake breakfast. Participants aged 18 and younger receive a $5 registration discount. The REACH Foundation provides an estimated tax-deductible amount in the registration confirmation; participants are advised to consult a tax professional for details. Registration fees vary by category and event.
Awards are given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places for both genders overall and by age divisions. Age divisions include ranges from 1-8 up to 95-99.
The event permits dogs on course under Yorba Regional Park rules: leashes no longer than 6 feet, physical leashes only (no e-collars), participants must carry bags and clean up after pets, and dogs should be well-socialized and comfortable in a busy race environment.
