Rattlesnake Rollercoaster
The Rattlesnake Rollercoaster is a trail run held at the Gateway of Light Sanctuary and Guest Ranch in Pearce, Arizona. The event is organized by the Stronghold Area Recreational Park Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, as a fundraiser for the Evelyn Williams Memorial Park in Sunsites, AZ. Registration includes race entry, a swag bag and a pre-race dinner; runners who register before 10/15/2026 are eligible to receive a T-shirt though entries after that date are not guaranteed a shirt. Age group awards are given to the top three finishers in each category.
Course details describe both a 5K and a 10K that use a mix of double track dirt roads and single track trails. The route begins on privately owned guest ranch land, moves into the foothills of the Coronado National Forest, and follows well marked trails through oak woodlands and past granite outcrops, finishing at a high point on the property with a downhill run to the finish. The 5K has 275' of elevation gain, is a loop, and includes two aid stations with water and snacks. The 10K has 655' of elevation gain, a lollipop course layout, and also has two aid stations with water and snacks. Trail shoes are recommended.
Camping is available on site with restrooms and water; no campfires are allowed. Rustic cabins are offered through Airbnb and nearby attractions include Chiricahua National Monument and the Cochise Stronghold. All participants must sign a waiver and dogs are not permitted on the course; dogs on the property must be leashed.
