Rasselbock Backyard Ultra - Hardwick Hall 2027
Rasselbock Backyard Ultra - Hardwick Hall 2027 takes place on Saturday 11th September 2027 at Hardwick Hall Estate in Derbyshire. The event is held in the footprint of the hall and uses the estate farmlands for the course.
The format is a backyard ultra: runners must begin the same 4.161-mile loop at the start of each hour and start a new lap on the hour, every hour. The race ends when only one runner is left to start a lap; the event therefore has no fixed duration and may last a few hours or many hours.
This is the tenth Rasselbock Backyard Ultra. Past editions attracted high demand: in 2025 there were 190 places sold and about 200 on the wait list, and in 2026 the event sold out in one week with 400 on the wait list. Autumn 2025 saw over 68% first time backyard participants.
The organiser offers a discount to runners who completed a backyard within the previous two years and who lasted more than 46 hours (46 laps); larger discounts are available for longer past performances.
