2026 Trail Party: Walk, Hike, or Run for rare
The Trail Party takes place on September 20, 2026 at Riverbluffs Park, George Street North, Cambridge, ON. The event is a fundraising walk, hike and run organized to support rare Charitable Research Reserve and to mark 25 years of conservation, education and research. The stated fundraising goal is CA$50,000 and the event has raised CA$23,810.98 so far, about 48 percent of the goal.
Participants choose between a Walk, a Hike or a Run. The Walk follows the Grand Trunk Trail from Riverbluffs Park to the ECO Centre and is accessible to strollers and on leash dogs; the surface is mainly hard packed dirt or stone dust with some asphalt sections. The Hike uses side trails off the Grand Trunk Trail with narrow foot paths and rugged terrain and does not permit dogs or strollers. The Run follows the Grand Trunk Trail past the ECO Centre to a turnaround point and back for an approximate 5 km route on similar surfaces.
Registration fees cover education stations and entertainment along the route, live music, and a BBQ lunch at the ECO Centre. A shuttle bus will return participants from the ECO Centre or Slit Barn to Riverbluffs Park where parking is permitted. Kids 12 and under are free. Participants who raise specified fundraising amounts receive an event bandana. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
