About the race
The Rail Trail Run and Ride is an annual community event along the North East Tasmania Rail Trail between Scottsdale and Billycock Hill. Established in 2018 and hosted by the Rotary Club of Scottsdale with the Launceston Running Club, the event includes both running and riding options and supports the maintenance and development of the trail.
Distances offered cover a wide range:
- Run: 54 km
- Run: 27 km
- Run: 14 km
- Run: 7 km
- Run: 2 km
- Ride: 54 km including e-bikes
- Ride: 30 km including e-bikes
- Ride: 18 km including e-bikes
- Ride: 7 km
Entry fees are structured as Early Bird and Late Fees with the Early Bird period closing on 24 August 2026 and the Late period closing on 16 September 2026. No on-the-day entries will be accepted for 2026. Participant inclusions include a personalised entry bib for entries received by 24 August 2026, a finisher’s medal, a Rotary Food Van voucher, hydration and aid stations, an on-course emergency response team, and professional traffic management at road crossings.
The event is not-for-profit and all proceeds go to trail upkeep. Discounts are available for family entries, multi-day entries, and members of selected clubs and associations; discounts require contact prior to registering. Entry transfers are permitted for illness, injury, or travel restrictions; refunds are not available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
