Race4Warriors event in Lewes, Delaware
Race4Warriors is an annual event held in Lewes that honors veterans who served in the Middle East and raises support for wounded warriors and homeless veterans. The event combines three components: competition on trails through Cape Henlopen State Park, an educational Middle East historical exhibit, and a celebration area with local vendors and live music.
The event offers multiple course options and participation categories. Options include running, a brisk race walk, and a heavy march in which participants carry a 15lb pack of nonperishable food that will be donated to homeless veteran centers. Registered participants who complete a race receive a commemorative race medallion, and those who register by May 2, 2027 are guaranteed an event t shirt while supplies last. Packet pickup is organized at the American Legion Post 17 in Lewes.
Organizational rules and divisions are published for the event. Races are open to military and civilian participants, with age categories ranging from 18 and under through 70 plus, and separate male and female categories as defined by entry requirements. The half marathon heavy division also offers four member coed team competition with specific formation and timing rules.
