Race to the Rescue in Antigonish, Nova Scotia
Race to the Rescue is organized by Strait Area Ground Search and Rescue in collaboration with the Cape George Trail Association. The event takes place on September 26, 2026 at 432 Marsh Road, Antigonish, and functions as a fundraiser for SAGSAR, a volunteer-run nonprofit search and rescue team.
Distance options:
- 10KM 265 m elevation from North Shore Fire Hall to Cape George Lighthouse
- 21KM 720 m elevation loop starting at North Shore Fire Hall and ending at Cape George Lighthouse
The 21 km route follows Goat Trail, Heritage Trail, Bubbling Springs Trail and connectors; the 10 km route uses the Firehall Connector and Lighthouse Trail. The 21 km course has two aid stations and the 10 km one aid station; aid stations provide water and a first aid provider. The race is manually timed. Transport is available from the finish at Cape George Lighthouse back to the start at North Shore Fire Hall. Dogs are not allowed during the race but are welcome at the finish area.
Bib pick up is available the day before at Coastal Chiropractic and on race morning at North Shore Fire Hall. The North Shore Volunteer Fire Department provided the venue space. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
