About the race

Race to the Rescue is a fundraising trail running event on September 26, 2026, in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, hosted by Strait Area Ground Search and Rescue with the Cape George Trail Association. The event supports SAGSAR, a volunteer non-profit search and rescue team that covers a large geographic area in Nova Scotia and operates year-round.

Distances offered:

  • 10 km from North Shore Fire Hall to Cape George Lighthouse, 265 m elevation
  • 21 km loop using the Firehall Connector, Goat trail, and Heritage trail, finishing at Cape George Lighthouse, 720 m elevation

Course details note one aid station for the 10 km and two aid stations for the 21 km; aid stations will offer water and a first aid provider. The race will be manually timed. Transport will be available from the finish at Cape George Lighthouse back to the start at North Shore Fire Hall. Dogs are not allowed during the race but are welcome at the finish area.

Bib pick-up is arranged at Coastal Chiropractic on the evening before the race and at North Shore Fire Hall on the morning of the event. Donations and peer-to-peer fundraising options are available to support SAGSAR operations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
