Race The Train : Tywyn annual multi-terrain running event

Race The Train is an annual multi-terrain running event organised by Tywyn Rotary Club. The listing on the site refers to the Clwb Rotari Tywyn Rotary Club 41th Annual Race The Train in Tywyn. The event features several named challenge races including the Rotary Challenge, Quarry Challenge, Dolgoch Challenge and Tynllwynhen Challenge. Many competitors return regularly to try to improve their performance or to "beat the train", and some participants have run nearly every year since the races started. The event is known among serious runners through friends, television or the press.

A participant video blog from the 2025 race shows the full Rotary Challenge from start to finish and illustrates the route terrain. The course includes water points and marshals along the route, and sections with spectator support. Spectators can also ride alongside the race on the Talyllyn Railway with tickets available for that service. Results archives are listed for multiple years including 2018 through 2025. The event page also references merchandise, sponsorship, and volunteer opportunities and expresses thanks to volunteers. Online entries close on the 30th of July and the next scheduled race date is 15th of August 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
