Race Dunvegan
Race Dunvegan is a mixed terrain running event set within the private grounds of Dunvegan Castle Estate. All races start at the Boathouse and route through woodland trails on an undulating, mixed-surface course inside the estate.
The event offers the following distances:
- 10k
- 5k
- Walking 5k
- 2k Fun Run
Entry age requirements are specified: the 10k is for participants aged 15 and over, the 5k for those aged 11 and over, and the Fun Run for children aged 5 and over; children aged 8 and under in the Fun Run must be accompanied by an entered adult. Dogs are permitted only on the Walking 5k, one dog per owner and on a lead.
This is a non-chip-timed event; marshals record times manually and results are uploaded to Webscorer. Race numbers must be visible at the front. There is one water station on the 10k route at the 5k mark and water at the finish. Medical cover is based in the main car park.
Practical arrangements include registration at McLouds Tables Cafe to collect race numbers and goody bags, parking in the designated Dunvegan Castle car park, and prize giving in the café. Changing rooms, lockers, and showers are not available. Headphones are prohibited on the route for safety.
The organiser offers optional commemorative t-shirts, uses compostable cups at the finish, runs a tree-planting scheme to offset travel, and encourages car sharing. A portion of income supports local charities and a community fund. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
