Polar Bear 5K Prediction Run
The Rochester Running Club hosts the Polar Bear 5K Prediction Run in Rochester, Minnesota at 116 17th Avenue Northwest on January 2, 2027. The event uses a prediction format: each participant predicts their 5K finish time and begins the course so they will cross the common finish at the predicted moment. Participants may not use watches or any timing devices and the finish clock is not visible. Runners who cross the finish earlier than their predicted finish are disqualified.
The run will begin and end on the trail near Minnesota Treads, with the intended course routed to use Cascade Lake for an out-and-back route to the store. Packet pickup is available at Minnesota Treads before the race.
Awards are given at the common finish; the first ten people to cross the line at that finish will receive a carved Polar Bear. Immediately after the run, winners will be announced at Charlie's Eatery & Pub Event Center where food and beverages are available and attendees may wait for the results.
Registration fees vary by membership status and registration date. Early pricing through December 14, 2026 is listed as twenty dollars for Rochester Running Club members and twenty five dollars for non members, and increases in later registration periods.
