Platrand Hoof and Horn
Platrand Hoof and Horn is a weekend event at Platrand Lodge in uMnambithi, KwaZulu-Natal, running from Friday 28 August to Sunday 30 August 2026. The program combines trail running, mountain biking, and a guided full moon walk that passes historic Battle of Platrand monuments with commentary from a guest speaker. Wildlife commonly seen on the trails includes kudu, giraffe, eland, nyala, impala, and occasional python.
The event features a two day stage run called PLAT‑run and a two day mountain bike series called Voorlaaier MTB. Distances offered include:
- PLAT‑run Day 1 21 km and 11 km; Day 2 10 km.
- Voorlaaier MTB Day 1 40 km; Day 2 20 km.
Various entry packages bundle accommodation, meals, on site medical support, live entertainment, and a goodie bag. Options include couple packages with two nights in a lodge room, local packages without accommodation, single day entries for Saturday or Sunday, and team entries for classes that allow two to four participants. Saturday evening features a Wildskos food market with game dishes such as kudu and nyala, vendors, and live entertainment. The weekend concludes with a prize giving where the top three places in each category receive awards.
