Peace Ridge Sanctuary’s 5k Run for the Animals
Peace Ridge Sanctuary presents an outdoor trail event in October at the Northeast Equine Sanctuary on the border of Albion and Freedom, Maine. The event raises funds to support the sanctuary’s work caring for rescued animals, including food, medical treatment, and future rescues. The setting includes fields, forests, and enclosures with horses and ponies; fall foliage is noted as a scenic feature in October.
Distances offered:
- 5k trail run (3.1 miles)
- 1 mile trail walk
The program includes outdoor yoga for runners, animal yoga for children, a vegan BBQ, sponsor tables, fundraising prizes, a raffle, and family activities such as cornhole, scavenger hunts, and face painting. Participants pass along animal enclosures and may see animals during the course. A virtual race option is also available.
Practical notes from the organizer include age based pricing details and restrictions: ages 1 to 4 are free, ages 5 to 12 have a youth fee, and there are separate fees for older participants and for day of event registration. Companion animals such as dogs are not permitted at the event, and overnight parking or camping is not allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
