Paine to Pain Trail Half-Marathon
The Paine to Pain Trail Half-Marathon is the 18th annual trail race hosted by NewRo Runners in New Rochelle, Westchester County, New York. The course is a single large loop that passes through five different parks in lower Westchester County; runners do not run the same trail twice. About 90% of the route is on dirt, with sections of rock and roots, and much of the course runs in the shade of the woods.
Many trails used in the race are not visible from public roads and support a variety of wildlife, including deer, fox, coyote, turtles, rabbits, hawks, owls, herons, wild turkeys, bald eagles, and other fauna. The route begins at Thomas Paine Cottage in New Rochelle (North Ave and Broadview Ave) and finishes at New Rochelle High School, across the street from the start. The event is part of the Trail Mix Series, which showcases seven trail races across Westchester County, New York and Fairfield County, Connecticut. Race results, a course map and description, and race reviews from prior years are maintained for reference. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
