Over the Top Trail Race
The Over the Top Trail Race takes place May 8, 2027 in Pocatello, ID, on singletrack in the City Creek Trail System. The course passes scenic overlooks and wildflower areas, includes desert plants such as cacti, and runs close to town with rolling climbs and flowing switchbacks.
The event offers multiple distance options to suit different objectives: shorter trail runs, a true trail half marathon, and a longer 30K loop. Organizers note that the half marathon route is very challenging and slightly fat, and that the 30K can be deceivingly difficult with late-race hill climbs. Distances and routes were adjusted from prior years; updated maps reflect revised loops and true mileage. Both longer races follow an "Under the Top" counterclockwise section first and an "Over the Top" clockwise section second.
Additional details: registration opens January 1, 2027, and early bib and bag pick up is scheduled for the day before the race. The event allows entry roll-overs but does not permit bib transfers. The Pocatello Running Club organizes the race; the club is a member of the RRCA and aims to promote health, friendship, and training opportunities among runners.
