OUTLAST INDIANAPOLIS
Outlast Indianapolis is a trail endurance event held in Columbus, IN (3989 S 525 E, 47203). The format is lap based: runners complete a 5K every hour on the hour and must finish each lap within the hour to continue. Races use natural trail terrain with dirt, rocks, roots, and elevation; some sections may include pavement or gravel.
Distances offered
- 6 Hour Challenge 18 miles total, six 5K laps
- Outlast ULTRA 12 Hour Challenge 36 miles total, twelve 5K laps
Participants have brief recovery time between laps to refuel and prepare for the next hour. The event provides water, basic hydration, and snacks at the basecamp/loop start, and it operates as a cupless event so runners should bring their own bottle or hydration system. Tent or personal aid setups are permitted at the course basecamp. Walking is allowed provided each 5K is completed within the hour.
Awards and recognition are given at several milestones: patches for four and five laps, premium medals for completing six or twelve laps, and a premium event T shirt for all participants. Finishers are ranked on a national leaderboard for a chance at a $1,000 national prize for the fastest 6 hour competitor. Top local 6 hour finishers may earn a place at the Outlast Championship in DFW on December 4, 2027, where cash prizes are awarded to the top three.
