About the race
Asitu'lɨsk is the site of an orienteering event on November 28, 2026, featuring a newly mapped area prepared by ONS. This is presented as an inaugural event on the new map and includes a cultural experience alongside orienteering activities. Timing may change and additional details will be added shortly. The mapped area, Asitu'lisk, is described as an ancient natural landscape that includes the Forest Wapane’kati and a riparian zone on the shores of Atuomkuk (Wentzell) Lake and the Pijnuiskaq (LaHave) River in Sin So’sepe’katik, Bridgewater, in Mi'kma'ki, Nova Scotia.
The name Asitu'lisk is given as meaning That Which Gives You Balance. The site is in the care of Ulnooweg Education Centre, which uses the place to welcome people and provide learning about culture, language, ecology, health, ceremony, and science, and to support connections between generations.
