Operation Obstacle 2026
Operation Obstacle 2026 is a fundraiser and awareness event held at Richland Community College Fitness Center, College Park, Decatur, IL on September 19, 2026. Presented in coordination with the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs Illiana Health Care Suicide Prevention Team and Richland Community College, the event is the sixth annual Race to End Veteran Suicide.
The event is a timed 2-mile obstacle course on a mostly flat route with approximately 20 to 25 obstacles. Obstacles include short-distance carrying and pulling tasks, army net crawls, and climbing over, under, and through structures. A fire truck hose down is planned at the finish area. All participants receive a finisher's challenge coin and a goodie bag. Proceeds support Richland Community College's Student Veterans' Resource Center.
Participants are grouped into competitive, semi-competitive, and non-competitive corrals; the non-competitive corral is intended for those who prefer to jog or walk and may skip some or all obstacles. Registration is available online only through Race Roster and gift registrations are offered via registration codes. T-shirts are available for purchase during registration for $20 with a shirt cutoff date of September 13, 2026. Volunteers are needed for the event and for course setup in the two days prior to the race. An online waiver is required during registration.
Awards will recognize the top three male and top three female finishers. The event observes International Day of Peace. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
