Opeongo Classic Loppet
The ninth annual Opeongo Classic Loppet is a classic technique cross country ski event organized by Opeongo Hills Nordic Ski Club on the club's ski trails in Brudenell, Ontario, south of Killaloe. This is a classic only event; skate skiing is not permitted.
The course uses four loops that cover most of the club trail system. Each loop begins and ends at the start and finish area. Terrain is hilly and rolling; the 10 km and 20 km loops use intermediate challenging terrain. Distances are approximate and may be modified because of weather or trail conditions. There will be mass starts at set intervals. Categories include men's, women's, open, youth, and kids.
Registration is online only and limited to 100 skiers; registration closes on January 29 or earlier if the cap is reached. Fees increase after December 31. There is no on-site registration.

A nutrition station will be available near the start and finish after each loop. Post event refreshments include hot chili, buns, and hot drinks, included for racers and volunteers. There is a team prize for most registered participants and a best costume prize. Awards and draw winners will be announced during post-event refreshments. The organizer may cancel the event for poor snow, trail conditions, or cold weather; refunds are mailed less a $5 administration fee.
